About

Blogs are games. Don't lie.

私はライトです。

This is my online scrapbook, mostly consisting of ramblings about Chinese stuff, occasionally Japanese music, deep thoughts, links that interest me, copious lists, and pictures of hot Asian celebs.

Currently I'm obsessed with Sing Yeh and am making a serious effort to watch all his movies. 10 left to go. Not much else to say...am absorbed in a lot of car repair atm. Go HERE if you want to ask me a question. m goi. :)

As much as I love my brother,

-strangebutnotastranger:

It’s nice when he goes out. I certainly don’t miss the constant giggling and laughter that comes from watching a bunch of Stephen Chow movies in a row.

Lol, that’s pretty much been me on a few occasions. XD  Well, it WAS me when I was sick and watched like, four in a row on Youtube.  I was laughing for hours. XD

I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Manning Debates

I’ve been watching football for over 20 years now and I really can’t say I’ve seen a better QB than Peyton Manning.  A QB that can almost single-handedly pull his team out of a hole and win the game.  But it’s always about the Super Bowl, so hopefully he can win another one tomorrow.

I was watching Firefly last night, and the random Chinese made me laugh, but also to feel much better about my own pronunciation, lol.  I mean, I had to rewind to catch the “aiya”, and it’s because it sound more like “ei-ah”.  Also, when I could puzzle out what the words were behind the mangled speaking, I actually understood some of it, lol.

I’d make more efforts to learn beyond my freakish movie osmosis ability, but I’m conflicted between Cantonese and Mandarin, atm. And God knows I can’t do anything when I’m conflicted, lol.

Stephen Chow interview snips

Q. Why are Asian films so popular now in the foreign market?
A. It’s because they’re good. Good ideas are always popular around the whole world.
Q. Have you ever received any injuries while performing any of the stunts?
A. Not yet.
Q. But what lengths do you go to keep fit?
A. I train regularly, because the kung fu training for me is not only for the performance but also it is the way that I relax. It’s a release.
Q. Is Stephen Chow, the director, hard on Stephen Chow, the actor?
A. Yes, but that’s why I train. I’m extremely busy and running around requires a lot of energy.
Q. And what does Stephen Chow, the actor, think of his director?
A. He’s a good director in my opinion [laughs].

I’ve realized I have really low tolerance for people who don’t like him.  Because they never just dislike him, they seem to have a simmering hatred of some sort, and I just don’t see how anyone could hate him. :|
Regardless of what he might be like off-screen, he’s still a genius and he’s brought laughter into the world that will never leave.  That’s gotta count for something.

Hmmm…Gazette is one of those bands that I think “Yeah, I really like ‘em”, but when asked to pick their good stuff, I’m hard pressed to do so because compared to the other stuff in my library…it’s not really that great. >.>
